Fukuzaki graduated from Mid-Pacific Institute high school in Honolulu. He then attended the University of La Verne in Southern California and earned a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism with an emphasis on radio and television. While at La Verne, he was chosen as the university’s Broadcaster of the Year for three consecutive years.

Fukuzaki serves at KABC – ABC7 as a weekday sports anchor for ABC7 Eyewitness News. He is also the host of special sports programs like Slam Dunk, Saturday Night Sports, and Chargers pre-and post-game shows. When he ABC7, he became the first male Japanese-American TV anchor on Los Angeles local TV News.
Fukuzaki started his broadcast career for the Top 40 radio station KXPW in Hawaii. Soon after he started working part-time for KITV in Honolulu doing sports reporting. Fukuzaki eventually got a full-time slot working as the station’s weekday sports reporter and weekend anchor. One of Fukuzaki’s more memorable assignments at KITV was an award-winning special on Sumo in Japan. The broadcast featured the three top-ranked wrestlers from Hawaii, including Grand Champion Musashimaru and Grand Champion Akebono.
Since joining ABC7 in 1994, Fukuzaki has done a great deal of work for the community, hosting charity events and emceeing benefit dinners. In 1996, he founded the Heads Up Youth Foundation, of which he is the chairman, and his wife Sharil is the executive director. The aim of the foundation is to help disadvantaged youth in Southern California. Some of the highlights of the www.headsupyouthfoundation.org work: providing low-income schools with backpacks, shoes, and school supplies, building a science lab and reading centers, and also providing scholarships for Foster Youth attending college.
It has always been his dream to have the opportunity to cover all of his favorite childhood teams in Southern California. In nearly 25 years at ABC7, Fukuzaki has covered Super Bowls, World Series, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Finals, & Championship Boxing. In 2016, he was inducted into the Southern California Sports Broadcasters Hall of Fame joining among others, his heroes Chick Hearn, Vin Scully, and Bob Miller.
