Hillan serves at CBS4 Denver as a news reporter/anchor. He started his broadcast news at KIFI-TV in Idaho Falls where he anchored the morning and noon newscasts. He grew up in Colorado and graduated from Dakota Ridge High School.
Hillan also worked at KJCT-V in Grand Junction where he was the evening anchor for 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. newscasts as well as Executive Producer. For five years he was the Traffic Specialist for CBS4 before being named anchor of CBS4 This Morning on weekends. Hillan also has the honor of telling your stories on CBS4 News at 5 and 6 p.m. Coloradans can also hear him on CBS4 partner KOA Newsradio as a fill-in host and News Anchor.
When he’s not on-air, he fills his time pursuing fitness and music. An avid musician, he has been a featured soloist and a conductor. Most recently, Joel was Director of the Colorado Mormon Chorale and Orchestra, the Lakewood Christmas Celebration with the Lakewood Symphony, and sits on the board of the Rocky Mountain Ringers.
