Prior to working in Denver, she was a reporter and weekend anchor for joint television stations KKCO and KJCT in Grand Junction. While on the Western Slope, Makenzie covered a variety of stories including President Donald Trump’s campaign visit, a national high-profile murder trial, and the shooting death of a local sheriff’s deputy. O’Keefe’s storytelling of that tragedy led to a Feature of the Year award in 2016 by the Colorado Broadcaster’s Association. Makenzie was also named Reporter of the Year in 2015 by the Mesa County Communications Officer Association.
When she is not working, O’Keefe loves to explore the great outdoors — whether it’s hiking, fly fishing, snowboarding, or even dirt biking. O’Keefe loves to immerse herself in the community and get to know the ins and outs of Denver.
