Finestone owns more than 20 years of local and national news experience, including the past 15 years in the Los Angeles market. Before joining CBS 2/KCAL 9, Finestone served as an executive producer at KTLA-TV. Prior to that, Finestone was a supervising producer at Current TV. Tara moved to Southern California in 2003 and spent nine years in varying network and local positions with NBC News and KNBC-TV.
She is the recipient of many awards, including 4 Emmys and varying Los Angeles Press Club awards, including the 2011 National Entertainment Journalist of the Year and the 2011 Television Journalist of the Year. When coming to her education, she graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in communication and media studies and she worked as a producer at stations in Seattle, Spokane, and Salt Lake City.
