Mark Skol Biography
Mark Skol is an American journalist working as a weekend sports anchor/MSJ for WZZM13 News. Mark experienced childhood in Houston, Texas, and lived a right distance from NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
Mark is a happy alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin (Hook Them!), despite being from the South. He adores the Midwest and is still getting used to the North’s winters.
Mark enjoys playing pickup b-ball, mocking his partner’s dream football teams (not just during football season), and watching his favorite Chicago sports teams in his spare time.
Mark is the most well-known of the three siblings. Claire works as a medical assistant in North Carolina, and Pete, his younger brother, studies at the University of Texas at Austin.

Skol, Jr., who works as the Weekend Sports Anchor/MSJ at WZZM, is thrilled to be a resident of Grand Rapids. Mark comes to Beer City USA from WNDU-TV, an NBC affiliate in South Bend, Indiana, where he worked for three and a half years.
Mark began his career at WNDU as a manager and picture taker, rising gradually to become the Weekend Sports Anchor and Sports Director in just one year in South Bend.
Mark was given the opportunity to host a pregame show prior to each home Notre Dame football game because he worked at the NBC subsidiary in South Bend.
Mark and the WNDU sports group received the “Best Sports Coverage” grant from the Indiana Broadcasters Association in 2019 for including Fighting Irish football.
