Laura Love Interview
If you don’t want everything model Laura Love is wearing, consuming and applying after our photo shoot with her, we’re not really sure what is driving your decisions today. Love, is a perfect Woman Crush Wednesday to have up to bat this week and is especially getting us into fashion month mode; what else is there about post-labor day to be excited about? Strike that, apple pie will be back in season…
Q; From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?
I would wake up in Maine and have my dad cook me my favorite soft boiled eggs with toast soldiers, butter and wild blueberry jam. Then, I guess I would casually fly to Italy and have the pasta primavera Adolf in Positano. And finally, I’d make it to LA in time for dinner to have the sole at Petit Trois.
Q; How do you always start your day?
Usually pretty grumpy, then a cup of green tea or of caffeine kind, and I’m good.
Q; How do you practice beauty from the inside out?
I try to exercise every day if my schedule allows. I also like to do something creative for myself every day like going to a ballet class or reading something I love – something that’s just for me. It keeps me sane…ish.
Q; What are your morning and nightly beauty routines?
In the morning, I keep it pretty simple. I splash my face with water and put some sunscreen on. At night, depending on the weather, I’ll use the Biologique Recherché Creme Dermopurifiante or if it’s really humid, I’ll just use the p50 toner and call it a night. If I know I have to look good for an event or a shoot the next day I’ll mask either the night before or if I was lazy, I’ll do a quick one right before I have to be somewhere.
Q; What products are always in your bag?
Whatever lip balm I’m into at the moment, and tinted moisturizer with SPF. I like Chantecaille Just Skin at the moment.
Your 72-hour food routine before a big photo shoot…
I’ll have greens like spinach and a lot of cucumbers, drink a lot of water, and take zinc. I also always try to have at least some kind of protein – like a small piece of steak or grilled fish – for energy. If I’ve been really bad in the weeks prior, I’ll do a baby juice cleanse that I sort of make up myself.
Q; Where do you love to travel? What won’t you travel without?
Well, I just got back from Italy, which didn’t suck. I won’t travel without sunglasses, a big cozy plane sweater (I love mine from The Row), sunscreen, cash, a phone charger, and basically any of my beauty products. I’m really low maintenance…(laughs)
A quick one-day cleanse to get one back on track after the weekend…
I’ll definitely go paleo for the weekend, exercise, and probably do a face mask because it makes me feel pretty.
A great at-home ab workout…
If I can’t make it to a ballet class or the gym, I’ve always been a big believer in the classic set-up. I’ll do about twenty-five sit-ups and then hold a plank for about a minute. And, if I’m feeling really ambitious, I’ll do some jumping jacks or jump rope to get my heart rate up.
Q; What are your favorite cities for food? What restaurants do you go to each?
For Los Angeles, I love Sugarfish, the Taco Zone food truck, and Madeo. In general, California has really great food. When I’m in Paris, Brasserie Lipp, where I always get the steak frites and can never finish it. If you’re on the Amalfi Coast, near Positano, you have to go to Da Adolfo.
Q; In the same vein as ‘what is the new black’ what’s the new potato right now?
Not limiting yourself to doing just one thing is the new potato right now.
