Julia Roberts (Julia Fiona Roberts) is an award winning American actress and producer born on 28th October, 1967 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. She became popular for her role as Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman in 1990. In the 1990’s and in the first half of 2000’s she was one of the highest-paid actress in the world.

Julia together with her sister Lisa Roberts Gillan and Marisa Yeres Gill runs Red Om Films, a production company. She served as the executive producer of the first four films of the American Girl film series (based on the American Girl line of dolls), released between 2004 and 2008.

Julia parents are Betty Lou Bredemus (1934–2015) and Walter Grady Roberts (1933–1977). They were one-time actors and playwrights. They met while performing in theatrical productions for the armed forces and married in 1955.

They co-founded the Atlanta Actors and Writers Workshop in Atlanta, off Juniper Street in Midtown. They also run a children’s acting school in Decatur, Georgia. In 1971 her mother filed for divorce which was finalized in 1972. When Julia was ten her father died of cancer.

Her mother, Betty Lou, remarried in 1972 to Michael Motes who was abusive and often unemployed. In 1983 her mother filed for divorce on cruelty grounds.

Julie Roberts has three siblings, a brother, Eric Roberts born in 1956 and two sisters Lisa Roberts Gillan born in 1965 and Nancy Motes (1976–2014).

Her brother, Eric, is an actor who is popular for his role as Dave in King of the Gypsies. Julie and Eric were estranged for a few years until 2014. Her older sister Lisa is also an actress.

Julia’s younger half-sister, Nancy Motes, from her mother’s second marriage died in 2014 of an apparent drug overdose.
