Vin Diesel Biography

Vin Diesel,an American actor, producer, director and screenwriter was born Mark Sinclair in Alameda County, California, along with his fraternal twin brother, Paul Vincent on July 18, 1967.He was born to a psychologist mother, Delora Sherleen and an adoptive father, Irving H. Vincent who was an acting instructor and theater manager.

Sinclair grew up in New York City with his mother, fraternal twin brother, and African American stepfather, Irving Vincent, a theatre manager who provided him with some of his first stage roles. While still in his teens, he worked as a club bouncer and took the name Vin Diesel. He attended Hunter College but dropped out to pursue an acting career in Los Angeles.

Acting for Vin Diesel happened by chance, when at the age of seven he and his friends broke into a theatre to vandalize it. A woman stopped them and offered them each a script and $20, on the condition that they would attend everyday after school.

At age seventeen he took up another occupation, he became a bouncer at some of New York’s hippest clubs to earn himself some extra cash. It was at this time that he changed his name to Vin Diesel.Diesel then dropped out of college in order to create his first film, Multi-Facial. Diesel wrote, produced, directed and starred in this short film about an actor willing to play any ethnicity in order to work.

The multi-talented actor then directed, wrote and starred in the full-length feature Strays, in which he played a tough, hard-edged drug dealer learning how to open himself up to emotional intimacy.His creativity on the two films attracted the attention of noted director Steven Spielberg who was then starting work on his World War II epic Saving Private Ryan(1998). Spielberg tailored a featured part for the actor and following the movie’s release, Diesel found big-budget opportunities coming his way.

From there, Vin’s career steadily grew, with him securing his first lead role, as Richard B. Riddick in the sci-fi film Pitch Black in the year 2000. The role earned him a legion of devoted fans and a wide public recognition than he expected.

He soon helped launch one of the era’s most popular action franchises with 2001’s The Fast and the Furious. In the film, Diesel played notorious street racer Dominic Toretto, who is investigated by an undercover cop.

Diesel proved that he was just beginning as he was soon back  with later installments of the Fast and Furious franchise, including Fast & Furious in 2009, Fast Five in 2011, Fast & Furious 6 in 2013 and Furious 7 in 2015.The latest movie in the series, however, was marred by tragedy. His friend and co-star Walker died in a car accident before filming was complete.

He starred in the supernatural action film The Last Witch Hunter in 2015 amd in 2016, Diesel appeared as a supporting character in Ang Lee’s war drama Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.In 2017, Diesel also reprised his roles as Xander Cage in xXx: Return of Xander Cage and also  Fast and Furious 8.

Showing his talent for serious dramatic fare, Diesel joined Ben Affleck and Giovanni Ribisi as a crooked stockbroker in Boiler Room (2000).
