George Stroumboulopoulos {Full name- George Mark Paul Stroumboulopoulos(/ˌstrɒmbəˈlɒpələs/)} is a Canadian media personality born on August 16, 1972, Malton, Ontario, Canada. His nickname is Strombo. He is most popular for having been a Video Jockey (VJ) for the Canadian music television channel MuchMusic and being the host, from 2005 to 2014, of the CBC Television talk show George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight (formerly The Hour). Stroumboulopoulos worked for Rogers Media, From 2014 to 2016, anchoring Hockey Night in Canada and the NHL on Rogers.

Stroumboulopoulos was born to a Greek father from Egypt and a Ukrainian mother in Malton, Ontario, in the Mississauga neighbourhood. He was raised mainly by his mother and close relatives of the extended family in Toronto. He attended Ascension of Our Lord Secondary School before proceeding to Humber College in Toronto where he studied radio broadcasting.

George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight is a Canadian television talk show hosted by Stroumboulopoulos. Before being renamed, the show was known as The Hour. It aired from 2005 to 2014 on CBC Television. The show was a daily one-hour program but was shortened into a daily half-hour show after being renamed. George Stroumboulopulos Tonight, began on September 20, 2010 and wrapped up at the end of the 2013–2014 season when Stroumboulopoulos moved to Rogers Communications to host Hockey Night in Canada.

Stroumboulopoulos worked on hour-long talk series for CNN named Stroumboulopoulos which aired during the late spring and summer of 2013. The show did not air as scheduled, with delays in episodes experienced sometimes. From the first upto the seventh episode running from June 14, 2013 to August 16, 2013, CNN failed to renew the show.

Stroumboulopoulos served as the main host of Hockey Night in Canada, beginning in October 2014, on March 10, 2014. He was to replace Ron MacLean. Strombo was part of an effort by Rogers Media to appeal to younger viewers. In a survey on viewers, expressed that they felt Strombo was not the ideal successor to Ron MacLean. Strombo was let go from Rogers on June 27, 2016 and Ron MacLean reinstated.
George Stroumboulopoulos Richard Chong
Stroumboulopoulos’ friend, actor Richard Chong, was found killed in a burglary attempt in his rented Los Angeles home. Stroumboulopoulos said in a tweet:
“Many of you have seen the reports of a homicide which occurred early this morning in the home I rent in Los Angeles. I only have a few details but it seems like it was the result of a break in. The victim was a dear friend of mine, who was staying at my place while I was away. I am heartbroken.
I am writing this from a plane en route to Los Angeles from New York, so I can be with my friends there, who are also devastated.
There’s so much to say but I’m at a loss for words so just love your people and I will have more to say when we know more about what happened.”
