Born on the 28th day of June 1977 in the Philippines, Elita was brought up in Southern California. Her family moved to the United States of America 9 months after her birth. When it was time for high school, she became a student of Chino High School. Here, she developed a liking for playing basketball. She eventually graduated from the high school in 1995 and proceeded to California State University, Fullerton. This saw Elita become a graduate of a Broadcast Journalism Program at the institution. She didn’t stop at this point as she moved on to Mississippi State University and grabbed a certificate in Broadcast Meteorology.

Elita began her journalism career as a news associate at KCBS-TV in Los Angeles in the year 2000. Her main work as a news associate was to assemble the scripts and operate Teleprompters during the newscasts.

In January 2001, she joined KGET-TV in Bakersfield, California as the noon weather anchor and assignment editor. She left the job in August 2002 and joined KGPE-TV in Fresno, California where she served as the morning and noon weather anchor. In 2004, Elita Loresca joined WSVN Miami and began forecasting the 2004 hurricane season with Hurricane Frances from the very first day.

IN 2005, she made reports for her station from the National Hurricane Center during the three devastating hurricanes: Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, and Hurricane Wilma. In 2007, she moved to Los Angeles and worked at KNBC for seven years, before moving to Houston, Texas to work at KTRK-TV.
