Whatever Happened to Pflugshaupt & Hannah Anderson

“Sorry Wausau, but I needed my best friend here,” says Amy Pflugshaupt about Hannah Anderson.

To say these two NewsChannel 7 alums are BFFs would be an understatement. Amy was here from 2007 to 2015 when she left for a job at the NBC station in Madison, WMTV, which is also owned by our company. Two years later, when a morning anchor position opened up there, she knew just the person.

Amy says, “I knew she would be great here, great storyteller, amazing on the air, charismatic, people love her. I knew the morning show would be perfect.”

But Hannah had to think about it. Between 2013 and 17 when she was here, something big had happened outside of the office.

“One of the factors that made it hard to move is I found the love of my life in Wausau,” she says. They were married in a lakeside ceremony up north last fall with Amy as the maid of honor.

But the new opportunity was a little too much to say no to and Hannah took the job, following Amy to the capital. She’s quick to point out though, that they still have roots here, “we always go back to Wausau because we have family in Wausau.”

Wausau is where this friendship was born. Amy remembers the day like it was yesterday. After a horrendously long day for Hannah, which included driving a car that didn’t have a heater in winter, she desperately needed a shoulder to lean on.

“I put my hand on her back and said you killed it and she started crying,” says Amy.

Hannah adds, “knowing you had a friend in the newsroom was everything.”

A friendship that endures, just like the enduring connection to the station where they both got their start.

“What we do a 7, and I still say we because we never really go away…” says Hannah. Amy chimes in, “I’ve been here three years and still say us.”

Amy is getting married herself in the fall and yes, Hannah is at the wedding.
