Erin Kennedy Biography
Erin Kennedy is an American news presenter on CBS 2 alongside Kris Gutierrez on weekday mornings and midday newscasts. Being a fluent Spanish speaker, Erin has reported for a number of Spanish broadcasts throughout her career. She was born on January 24th, 1982.
Erin Kennedy Age/Family
Erin was born on 24th January 1982 ( 36 years as of 2018 ) Erin was born and raised in Colorado, she is of Portuguese and Irish descent. Her parents are originally from Rhode Island and still, a lot of her family live there. Her paternal grandparents Michael Kennedy and Catherine MacDonald came to the US from Galway.
Erin Kennedy Education
She attended high school in Colorado. She then attended the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. While at college, Kennedy studied abroad in Spain. While abroad, she got the opportunity to visit Ireland, where her grandparents are from, in order to experience a bit of her family history. Erin graduated from college summa cum laude as a part of the class of 2003. She as also inducted as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Erin Kennedy Husband
Erin’s husband is named Matthew and he is of Irish descent. He is a musician. Erin and Matthew met while both attending the University of Notre Dame for their undergraduate degrees. The happily married couple now lives in the suburbs of Chicago with their two children.
Erin Kennedy Career
Erin’s first job as a news anchor and reporter was for KAMC-TV in Lubbock, Texas. During her time in Texas, she hosted a Spanish language show called Si Se Puede. She then moved on to Providence, Rhode Island in December 2005 and worked as an anchor for 6 years at WPRI-TV/WNAC-TV.
At Providence, she created, produced and anchored a show called Webcast en Espanol. December 2011 Erin moved to Cleaveland, Ohio to work as a morning news anchor for WKYC-TV alongside Chris Tye. She worked for three years until 2014.
While in Cleveland, she often worked with the Rape Crisis Center and YWCA as a host of event emcee as a way of giving back to the community. In 2014, Kennedy became the co-anchor of CBS 2 Chicago’s weekday morning newscasts.
