Bridget Bennett Biography
Bridget Bennett is American Journalist at KCAU 9 news she joined the evening team as an evening anchor in December 2018. She First joined KSFY’s news team as a general assignment reporter in September 2012 as a morning reporter for six years.
She spent the rest of her high school years shadowing television reporters in Fargo, ND and participating in a summer internship at KDSU, a Prairie Public Radio Station.

Bridget Bennett Early Life – Education
Bridget has lived her whole life in the Midwest. Also, she’s no stranger living on state lines. She grew up in Ellendale, ND, a few miles north of the South Dakota border. While at Ellendale High School only a freshman, Bridget knew that journalism was a perfect fit. Throughout high school, she wrote stories for the local county newspaper and got her first taste of broadcasting news job shadowing in Fargo, ND.

She also met and married her childhood sweetheart Jason in her hometown. They were married in May 2009 and welcomed their first child, Landry, in 2015 and their daughter Lindley in 2017. The entire Bennett family loves to get out of the house to explore parks, museums, nature trails, and other fun family activities.

She started her career in journalism as a columnist for the city’s weekly paper — the Dickey County Leader— as a high school junior. She spent the rest of her high school years shadowing television reporters in Fargo, ND and taking part in a summer internship at KDSU, a Prairie Public Radio Station. As a senior high school senior and freshman at SMU, she served as a youth spokeswoman for two national non-profit organizations. During this time, Bennett spoke to Congress members, the national press (including interviews with the Washington Post and USA Today), and book authors on topics such as peer education, underage alcohol consumption, sex education, and leadership.
During her SMU career, Bennett served many roles at the Daily Update of SMU TV and online at the Daily Campus. Her 2010 healthcare package in a Dallas County Jail received a TV broadcasting award from the Society of Professional Journalists. While attending SMU, Bennett also helped to produce two special projects–a current event interview with Face the Nation’s Bob Schieffer and a personal interview with Katie Couric. Bennett interned with CBS 11, KTVT in Dallas from May 2011 to December 2011.

Before settling in Siouxland, Bridget was in Sioux Falls just up the river. She spent six years working at KSFY news as an anchor and reporter. While there, she was able to work in many communities on Siouxland’s northern edge. While working at KSFY, she was also part of the team that awarded two Midwest Regional Emmys for Best Weekend Newscast and several other regional news awards including Edward R. Murrow, Eric Sevareid and AP News. Throughout her reporting career at KSFY, Bridget covered a variety of stories including breaking news, weather features, agricultural stories, local features and much more.

Bennett gained even more experience with life, in-the-field reports, and interviews after joining KSFY’s high-ranking morning show in August 2013. She also gained experience for the two-hour morning show broadcast as a fill-in producer.

Northwest Iowa still waiting on funds for Lewis and Clark regional water system

LifeServe hosts Firefighter Appreciation Blood Drive through Saturday

LifeServe Blood Center in Sioux City is partnering with local firefighters to host a blood drive. The drive honors firefighters and helps provide blood to nearby hospitals who see a drop in donations during the summer months. The Fire Appreciation Blood Drive goes through this Saturday, so there is still plenty of time to donate.
