Asma Khalid Biography

Asma Khalid is a Muslim American reporter. She is a political correspondent covering the 2020 presidential campaign. Before joining NPR’s political team, Asma helped launch a new team for Boston’s NPR station WBUR. While there she reported on biz/tech and the Future of Work.

Khalid got her start in journalism in her home state of Indiana. She previously worked as a reporter for WBUR. Her role was as a General Assignment Reporter who graduated into Senior Political Reporter.

Khalid was born on December 11, 1983. She is 36 years old. Khalid grew up in Crown Point, Indiana.

Asma Khalid Parents\Family

Miss Khalid is the daughter of Zafar and Kishwar Khalid. The second among four siblings, she has an older sister named Noreen Ahmad. not to mention she has two younger siblings, Maryam, and Imran Khalid.

Asma Khalid Education

Asma got her Bachelors degree in journalism and Political Science from Indiana University Bloomingdale. She went on to get her Masters of Philosophy in the Middle East and Islamic Studies from the University of Cambridge. She graduated in 2007.

While still studying her Bachelors she did a general course in Political and Government. This was from The London School of Economics and Political Science. She did not pay for her college education. Khalid also took on Arabic language courses from American University of Beirut and Middle College.

Asma Khalid Career

Asma got her start in journalism in her home state of Indiana. She was introduced to radio through an internship at BBC Newshour in London during grad school. She’s reported on a range of stories over the years including the 2016 presidential campaign, the Boston Marathon bombings and the trial of James “Whitey” Bulger.

Before joining NPR’s political team, Asma helped launch a new team for Boston’s NPR station WBUR. While there she reported on biz/tech and the Future of Work. She was also a Campaign reporter focusing on the intersection of Demographics + Politics in Election 2016.

Asma was the Lead Reporter and Editor at WBUR between Feb 2017-Feb 2018. He duties were launching a new biz/tech team at WBUR called BostonomiX. Arun Rath and Anastasia Tsioulcas are also reporters for NPR.

Asma Khalid Husband\Personal Life

Khalid is a married woman. her husband is from Jacksonville. the couple resides in Boston. While in school she was part of the scouts. Her sports activities included being the captain of her tennis team and an interest in basketball. She always had an eye for fashion and baking desserts.

The couple is blessed with a son named  Sulayman. He was born on March 9, 2019.
