Katie Kim Biography
Katie Kim is a general reporter and weekend morning anchor at NBC 5 from Los Angeles who joined NBC 5 in October 2014.
Katie graduated with degrees in broadcast journalism and art history from the University of Southern California.
Katie was born in Koreatown in Los Angeles and her family still lives in the area. She is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association.
When Katie is not working, she loves hiking, snowboarding, and discovering new restaurants.
She also loves visiting family and friends and FaceTiming with her twin nephews. She is also a volunteer at Lurie Children’s Hospital.Kim Katie Photo

Katie joined NBC 5 as a general assignment reporter in October 2014.
“I am thrilled for the opportunity to live and work in such an amazing city!” Katie posted on Facebook, on her move to NBC46.
On Twitter she wrote, “After 4 incredible yrs in NM, I’m leaving humbled & grateful for a new job in Chicago. I’ll cherish my time here. Thank you for your trust.”
Station manager and vice president of news at NBC 5, Frank Whittaker, said, “Katie has done a great job filling in, and did a wonderful job for us reporting from the Winter Olympics earlier this year.”
Prior to joining CBS, she spent four years in the Land of Enchantment, better known as Albuquerque, NM.
Katie was an Emmy-nominated investigative reporter for the CBS-affiliate, KRQE-TV. While there, she covered city and state politics, highlighted government waste and focused on data-driven reporting.
She began her career as a multi-media journalist at the NBC-affiliate, WILX-TV, in Lansing, MI.
