Elsa grew up in Venice, California where she attended the Westminster Avenue Elementary School. She then attended the Culver City Junior High School, until her parents migrated to La Mirada. She continued her high school education at the La Mirada High School before enrolling in an English Literature degree at the University of California, Irvine.

Elsa began her internship with KCBS-TV, owned by CBS Los Angeles as a production assistant and field producer. Her most notable work was with the famed OJ Simpson Trial. Just before the verdict of the trial, Elsa landed her first on air job as a reporter at KESQ in Palm Springs. She was promoted to morning anchor after several months.
She then went to work for KION-TV in Monterey, California, and later to KSAZ-TV FOX 10 News in Phoenix as a weekday night anchor.

Elsa then joined KXAS-TV in Dallas, before making the move to join the ABC7 Eyewitness News team in 2005. she joined the WOAI News 4 team in San Antonio as anchor for the weekday night news bulletin in 2008. She remained there until 2013, where she moved to Los Angeles together with her family.

Jordan her husband also found his dream job at the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. Elsa echoed her support for him by reflecting on his sacrifice for her by moving to San Antonio, and returning the favour when her husband wanted to pursue his career. She began working with CBS Los Angeles as an anchor on weekends for the evening news edition for both KCAL-TV and KCBS-TV.
