Ricks began as an anchor and multimedia journalist for KOMU-TV in 2005. She had previously hosted a show on KARE-TV in 2002 called the Whatever Show, which reported local events and issues focusing on local teens. For this show she interviewed many people including, Ice Cube, Christina Milian and Supreme Court Justice Alan Page.

Later positions Dhomonique has held include – Anchor and Producer for WSET-TV and hosting The Now Cleveland for WEWS-TV. Aside from her anchoring work, Dhomonique also ran a TV show called Reaching for Excellence, which focuses on children and teens doing exceptional things.

Ricks has won numerous awards for her work including a Regional Murrow Award (Best Breaking News Coverage), Regional Mark of Excellence (Best News Reporting, Feature and Breaking News) & was also granted an Emma Bowen Foundation Fellowship. This fellowship included an internship with KMSP-TV, a FOX News affiliate. Dhomonique hosted the National Institute for Construction Excellence 4th Annual Awards Luncheon as Mistress of Ceremonies.
