Astrid Martinez Biography

Astrid Martinez is a news anchor and TV host at CBS46. Martinez hosts Astrid in the ATL at CBS 46. The Astrid segment on ATL is all about entertainment, art, culture and food. Martinez was born in Medellin, Colombia. She has two brothers.  Her career in journalism was fueled by the desire to tell the story of her country which was plagued by civil and political unrest. Astrid and her family moved to the United States and settled in New Jersey. She is a Montclair State University graduate. She graduated in 20015 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a concentration in Latin American Studies. Astrid is a former Miss Colombia USA 2000.

Astrid hosts her segment, Astrid in the ATL at CBS 46. She joined CBS46 in June 2016. Before joining CBS46, she was a general assignment reporter at the NBC station (KXAS) in Dallas, Texas.

She also worked with WBTV from mid-2012 to mid-2015 as a General Assignment Reporter and Fill-In anchor. WBTV is the CBS affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina. She gathered daily creative stories for live television from active research, contacts and community involvement

Before joining WBTV, she worked at Harlingen in Texas as the news anchor for KGBT 5 pm and 10 pm Spanish language newscast.

For the second half of 2017 and the first half of 2008, Astrid worked with WFTX as a Co-host for a morning magazine-style talk show in Fort Myers, Florida Area.
