Brian Colleran Caregiver of the Month Awarded to Huntington Woods STNA

Published: July 1, 2019

Source: www.foundationshealth.net

Great caregiving that delivers resident satisfaction and excellent clinical outcomes are at the core of the success of Foundations Health Solutions. This commitment to excellence is attributed to the vision of Foundations Health founder, Brian Colleran. Each month, Brian reviews the best of the best caregivers across the state of Ohio to recognize the Brian Colleran Caregiver of the Month. In Colleran’s vision, this is the person that goes above and beyond to provide smiling faces and healthy outcomes. This month’s winner is Nicole Peters, an STNA at Huntington Woods in Westlake, Ohio.

Nicole truly is a huge asset to the memory unit at Huntington Woods in Westlake, Ohio. She has been a blessing to the facility for the past five years when she began working there and truly loves it there. The care, compassion, and patience she shows the memory residents is truly amazing. She always ensures that she works in the same hall every shift so that her residents know they can count on her to take care of them. She believes the continuity of care day in and day out is very important to them and makes a massive difference with trust. Most of these residents are very confused, but Nicole feels that they still know she is there and that she will take exceptional care of them. She has a strong belief that family above all is what is important when it comes to taking care of our memory residents. It truly takes a village to make everything come together for the type of care we strive for as a building.
Nicole herself has five kids ages 9-17, with the 9-year-olds being twins! You could say she has her hands full, but she always comes to work with a positive attitude, never complains, and is always happy to be caring for her residents. She gets very involved with the resident’s family members as well, from coming in on her days off to accompany them on appointments to calling them to ensure their mother ate dinner that night. Nicole wants to ensure the families have a sound support system.
She became an STNA because, at the age of 17, her grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and had to move in with Nicole. Nicole took on the role of taking care of her grandmother until she passed away. It sparked something inside of her, and she knew this was her calling. She has a HUGE passion for our memory residents. Samantha Krejci, the Admissions Director at Huntington Court, said, “We are so happy to have Nicole as a part of our team!”
Nicole stated, “I know my residents and they know that they can always count on me. Families look for me when I am here because they know they can count on me to care for their loved ones. I am very involved with the family members here because I believe if you work on a memory unit, it is important to have a relationship with not only the resident but their loved ones because the resident isn’t always able to communicate their wants, likes, dislikes, and what they enjoy. Above all, it’s all about the families and the connections we create with them day in and day out.”
Nicole, it is with great pride that we award you the Brian Colleran Caregiver of the Month award for July. You are our Culture of Care!
We are so thankful for the incredible team at Huntington Woods, and all of our facilities, and how they have created “A Culture of Care” for our residents and families. At Foundations Health Solutions, we prioritize our residents, families, and their care.
Founded by Brian Colleran, Foundations Health Solutions is Ohio’s premier long-term care company. Our team of experts has more than 15 years of experience successfully supporting over 100 multifaceted long-term care facilities.
