The HomeOwnership Center helping Miami Valley residents impacted by tornadoes

Source; abc22now.com

Many storm survivors are still looking for a place to call home or help with their mortgages.

The HomeOwnership Center in Dayton said it’s here to help.

The center helps people get mortgage ready if they have foreclosure issues.

The also offer debt counseling and hold homebuyer education classes.

The center has satellite offices in Kettering and Trotwood.

They’ve talked to tornado survivors who need to relocate or who can’t afford their current home.

The center said they can help tornado survivors with financial counseling and if you can’t afford your mortgage they can help you realize all options that are on the table.

“You’re laid off because maybe your office needs to be rebuilt,” said HomeOwnership advisor, Jackie Easter. “There’s a program through FHA where there is forbearance and them forbearance your mortgage payment for a time period and you won’t have to pay; that’s pretty usual,” she said.

“In many cases, there’s not a lot of assistance but we try to help them understand what the options are and how they can address it,” Easter said.

Most importantly HomeOwnership Center said to have a conversation with your insurance first to make sure you know exactly what is and what is not covered.

You can give HomeOwnership Center a call at 937-853-1600
