Victoria`s Secret is an American designer, manufacturer, and marketer of women`s lingerie, womenswear and beauty products. It was founded in 1977 as a response to packaged underwear. It was founded by Roy Raymond and his wife Gaye Raymond in San Francisco, California on 12th June 1977. Raymond is picked the name Victoria after Queen Victoria of the UK the secret was what was underneath the clothes. The business grossed 500,000 in its first year of business and it expanded itself to four new stores and expand the warehouse. In 1982 Victoria had grown to five stores and was earning 6 million annually. Raymond later sold the company to Leslie Wexner the creator of Limited Stores Inc for one million. The next year revamped The company’s sales model and focused it more on female customers than male customers. It transformed from a mainstream type of business to mainstay type of business selling mainly underwear. The brand began to grow immensely the new market it had acquired. By 2006 in the United States there were over 1000 stores.

2002 it launched pink a lingerie line targeted towards younger women than in the main line.
