The district numbered the 17th District from 1992 to 1993 and the 8th District from 1993 to 2013, involving the west side of Manhattan from the Upper West Side down to Battery Park, including the World Trade Center.
It also involves the Manhattan neighborhoods of Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen, and Greenwich Village, as well as parts of Brooklyn such as Coney Island, Bensonhurst, Borough Park, and Bay Ridge.
